USE & STORE

For European descendants, especially French and Italian, roasting chestnuts is a family tradition. The smell of roasted chestnuts brings back wonderful childhood memories.
Chestnuts are known as 'châtaigne’ in France and ‘castagna’ in Italy. In France marron glacé, a sweet candied chestnut is served as a special treat at Christmas and New Year.

Use:
Chestnuts can be enjoyed roasted or used in entrees, soups, main meals and desserts. Their sweet nutty flavour makes them very versatile. In any meal you can replace potato with chestnuts.

Store:
Chestnuts should be stored close to zero degrees celsius.

You can store fresh chestnuts in the fridge for up to 3 weeks (in the coldest section), ideally in a poly woven bag that can breathe.

Roast, peel and store cooked chestnuts in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 9 months. This way you can enjoy chestnuts all year. Chestnuts make a great stuffing for turkey at Christmas.
